Every room in the house is different. A converted townhouse does not divide neatly into identical modules, and rather than fight the building we have let the rooms keep their original proportions. What follows describes the types we have and what is included in each, so you know roughly what to expect before you write to us.
Room types
The single rooms are on the upper floor, compact but full height, each with a desk and a window onto the courtyard side. The standard doubles are the core of the house, most with two tall street-facing windows and a seating chair. The corner rooms are the largest, with windows on two sides and enough floor space for a small sofa. A limited number of rooms can take an additional bed for a third guest.
What is included
- Breakfast in the ground-floor room each morning, cooked rather than buffet-only.
- Private bathroom in every room, with towels and basic toiletries replaced daily.
- Wi-Fi throughout the building at no extra charge.
- Daily housekeeping, and a laundry service on request.
Practical notes
The building is historic, which has consequences worth knowing in advance. There is a lift, but it is small. Ceilings are high and rooms warm slowly on the coldest winter days, so we keep additional heating available. Some rooms face the street and some the courtyard; the courtyard side is quieter, the street side brighter. If either matters to you, say so when you write and we will tell you honestly what is available.
Longer stays
Stays of a week or more are common in the shoulder seasons, particularly among visitors here for work. Longer stays get a laundry allowance and a weekly deep clean rather than a daily one, which most guests prefer. The practical limit is the size of the room, so for anything beyond a fortnight it is worth discussing which room would suit before you commit.
